Q: Who developed Penumbra: Black Plague HaptX Edition?
A: The original Penumbra Series is developed by Frictional Games. The HaptX Edition
has been developed by the in-house HaptX development team. |
Q: What is the difference between Penumbra: Black Plague and Penumbra: Black Plague HaptX Edition?
A: The story of the game has not been changed, the HaptX Edition merely provides you with
the possibility to play the game using the Falcon. Also, you can choose whether you want
to play the HaptX Edition with the Falcon or with a mouse. |
Q: I have installed Penumbra: Overture HaptX Edition on my computer but every time
I start it I get a popup window which asks for an Activation Code.
A: You need to have Administrator rights both when you install and when you register Penumbra.
If you use the manual registration option in the installer you have to be Administrator the
first time you run the game and enter your Activation Code. That way you will not have to
enter the Activation Code each time. |
Q: During the installation, when I try to register the product using online registration I get
an error message that says 'Serial already registered'?
A: You can not register Penumbra: Overture HaptX Edition on more than three different computers.
Please contact support@haptx.com if you suspect that your serial has been used by others
than yourself without your permission. |

Q: I get a message when I start Penumbra that says that no haptic device can be found even
though I have a Novint Falcon. What could be wrong?
A: Make sure that the device is properly connected to the computer and power supply. Make sure
that you have the latest driver for the device. The latest driver is available at www.novint.com.
In the installation folder for the device driver (e.g. C:\Program Files\Novint\Falcon\TestUtilities
you can find three test programs. Run them to make sure that the driver and Falcon are
working and properly installed. |
Q: When I run Penumbra Overture HaptX Edition it seems like I get really bad frame rate, what could I do about this?
A: Make sure that you have the latest driver for your graphics card. Check that your computer meets the hardware
requirements. If you have more than one core\processor and an Nvidia GeForce 7000 series or later go to the advanced
settings and make sure that the option for Threaded optimization is set to off. Try to disable some of the graphics
options (such as bloom, noise filter, motion blur etc.) |
Q: Sometimes when lifting and holding an object in the game the Falcon becomes jerky and
instable. Can I do something about this?
A: If you have an Nvidia GeForce graphics card, go to the Nvidia Control Panel and make sure that the option
for Threaded optimization is set to Off. |
Q: When I start Penumbra I get the error message 'Support for OpenAL could not be found'.
A: Please make sure that your sound card is working and properly installed. |
